10 Things I've Learned From 10 Years in Business - The Moery Company

Here are ten things that I’ve learned over the last decade of having this business open that I wanted to share with you. Fair warning, some of the words maybe a little explicit…

#1. If you’ve met more than one asshole today it’s probably you. My dad taught me that one.

#2. Things don’t change that much. Keep doing what is successful.

#3. Are you willing to outwork everyone else? Because if you are, you will be successful.

#4. Everyone knows what to do they just don’t do it.

#5. If you can’t motivate people or sell, I advise you to not launch your own business.

#6. Give everything you can to your team and the people that you work with and don’t have expectations. You’ve got to understand that over time people will leave and they’ll transition. The job may not be a fit for them and that’s okay. Don’t let that affect what you give to your team.

#7.  Do what you say you will do. If you do that, and your clients do that, you’re going to be able to work through just about anything.

#8. Don’t take business advice from people who don’t do it themselves. Sometimes I’ve heard folks give others advice and they’ve never actually practiced that advice themselves or they are business consultants and they have never owned a business.

#9. Nobody cares about you. Don’t let what other people think paralyze you from doing what you want because nobody cares. They’re not thinking about you, they’re thinking about their own thing.

#10. It’s 90% hustle and attitude, 10% skill. Most of the people that I’ve watched flourish is because they hustle and they’ve got a great attitude.

I hope this is helpful to you. I’d love to hear what’s on your list of things you’ve learned! Comment below or drop me a note at jp@moerycompany.com.
