Association Field Report (March 17, 2020) - The Moery Company

Hi folks, it’s JP Moery! I have a report from the field.

As you know, The Moery Company team is deployed for our association clients conducting business development work. I want to tell you what I heard from our folks as early as today based on all the things that are happening right now.

One. Share and inform. Ask, “How are you?” Making people familiar with resources your association might have is being very well received. We’re also seeing associations that are loosening, if you will, some of their membership criteria. They’re making formerly ‘members only’ content, such as educational programming and webinars, available to non-members. We’re pushing these kinds of messages out and they’re being very well received. People want to know that you care about them. So that’s the theme of our business development work right now. We’re reinforcing that with our association clients.

Two. People want to continue to conduct business. For example: we’re selling advertising right now. We’ve had confirmations for insertion orders here within the last 24 hours. We sold a sponsorship for an event that is planned for the future. People want to keep moving. If you position your messages around, “Hey, you may not be ready yet, but when things start to unleash again, especially in the event space, we want you to have all the information you need. Let us know if we can answer any questions for you.” Because, I’m telling you, when this thing breaks loose there’s going to be a bevy of activity.

Finally, we’re focusing on empathy. We’re here for you.

Lead, share, be involved with your members and sponsors. Lead instead of falling into a triage and bunker mentality. Okay? That’s what people really are looking for right now and those are certainly areas where we’re seeing success.
